DAY 1: HANOI – LAO CAI RAILWAY STATION
Tonight we board the overnight train to Lao Cai the gateway to Sapa.
DAY 2: LAO CAI – SAPA
With its rugged mountain scenery and rich tribal culture Sapa is home to a diverse ethnic population, as well as a rich variety of birds, plants and animals. The town of Sapa is dominated by Fan Si Pan Mountain, the last major peak in the Himalayan chain standing at more than 3000-metres above sea level. Today is at leisure to relax and enjoy the local scenery. Overnight at hotel for 2 nights.
DAY 3: SAPA
This morning we visit the surrounding village of the Black Hmong people and learn about their way of life. In the afternoon we climb up Ham Rong Mountain with its panoramic views of Sapa and visit the local market where you can buy intricate embroidery and jewellery made by local tribal people. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 4: SAPA – LAO CAI RAILWAY STATION
Day at leisure. Tonight we board the overnight train to return to Hanoi.
DAY 5: HANOI
Day at leisure. Why not visit the flower market of Hanoi, Tran Quoc Pagoda and Thanh Nien road, one of the most romantic streets in the city. You may wish to enjoy the streets of the old quarter, famous for its small artisans and merchants. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 6 – 7: HANOI/AUSTRALIA
After breakfast transfer to the airport and board your flight home. Arrive in Australia the following evening with wonderful memories of Vietnam.
NB: Overnight return train journey to Sapa based on four berth sleeper.
